Sarracenia purpurea in bloom?

6 April 2006

It was very exciting to discover last night that a strange ‘bud’ on my carnivorous plant, Sarracenia purpurea, is changing. The growth, which is forming where new pitchers stem from, seems to be growing larger, forming a stem, and is starting to resemble a flower bud.

After having this plant for two and a half years, I was not sure that it had the best conditions to flower, it has been living on a sunny warm kitchen window for the last two years. Watch this space for updates!
