sorting out the Strawberry Shortcake girls…

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

I’m sorting through my Strawberry Shortcake girls, some need new homes, some need warmer clothes on, it’s freezing here!

I had an Almond Tea Party Pleaser when I was a kid, and she’s still my favourite, close to Plum Pudding.  I do love the blue haired girls (Crepe Suzette and Blueberry Muffin) and Orange Blossom is lovely too.

I have three Sweet Sleepers, only one is complete however, Lemon Meringue, above are my Blueberry Muffin dolls.  I find myself wanting to make Luna and Blake some giant Strawberry Shortcake sleeping bags…

More blue hair!  Crepe Suzette is one of Strawberry’s International Friends – I would have loved to see here as a Party Pleaser.  I have seen some really nice custom sweet sleepers on ebay…

Peach Blush is another one of the more hard to find dolls, and alas, my girl has no hat!  She is in great condition though.

Plum Pudding looking snug and warm!

My Almond Tea girls, as you can see I can’t get enough… though after the Big Sort Out, one needs a new home.

I also have a couple of play sets, the Berry Bake Shoppe, and the Escargo picnic set, and some minis.

Adventures around Auckland’s volcanic cones

Obelisk

I’ve been getting out with Luna and Blake on more adventures lately, visiting some of our precious volcanic cones.  Today was Maungakiekie, One Tree Hill, when I was a kid a pine tree used to stand with the obelisk, this probably Auckland’s most well known sights, it is the site of a Pa or fort.  Such a beautiful day, we had a bit of a wander near the summit, but not quite the top most place to see the view.

But still stunning, we took in the western and southern suburbs.

We arrived around midday after our errands, morning is the best time for activities as the littlees need long afternoon naps.  Then I get to settle down with Blake and Austin on my lap and write this!

all the girls on the beach

Such a beautiful day!  Yesterday we found ourselves out on the East Coast before a wedding, we had a few hours to kill, so we headed out to the beach, Omana Regional Park this time…

Oh and we had the best pizza I’ve had in years..  there’s a pizza place a few minutes drive up the road and they do a $5 pizza with one topping plus cheese, and oh will we be back!  Will do a beach mission followed by a couple of pizzas and maybe a glass of wine?  So, so good, go there!

Train rides and wood piles

train ride2

The girls had a blast riding the Waikino Train this month, it was a ride of about 30 mins, and a stop over at the Waikino Station Cafe, just long enough for a cup of coffee and scone before heading back to Waihi.  You can catch it from either end, and return or go one way.  Luna LOVED it as well, and is still talking about it.

The train is a bit rough, but in an authentic kind of way… the chairs were those ones that flip one way or the other, the paint was peeling off in places, see?

All packed and dressed up before the trip.

Strawberry Shortcake Vintage Quilt pieces

quilting pieces

I bought these on ebay last month, for about NZ$4 not too bad, I figured they look sweet and I have an idea for pillowcase bags which I may incorporate these into for Luna or myself.

the girls and the strawberries

I started these at about the same time our strawberry plants started to produce a few strawberries of their own, first a couple of smallish strawberries and then I just had to go bigger!  I put a bell in a couple of them for fun, come and see them at the next Crafternoon Tea or Kraftbomb.
