new sea horse softies…

Friday, November 4th, 2011

I’ve been pretty frantic finishing off goodies for the Michael Park School Fair happening tomorrow (!!!) some pretty new sea horse softies as well as sewing kits.  It’s time to share some new photos!

Lorenzo (on the left) and Matilda, these two are so sweet, I have a couple in the fabric of Lorenzo, but Matilda is a one off!

Cool huh.

Here’s Shirley, she’s really good at camouflaging with vintage sheets.

Stanley Face2

Here’s Stanley, I’ve had this fabric for ages, just a small remnant, about one meter square, one of my favourite pieces, and now it’s become a Snuggly Sea Horse!  Check out Nancy below…

These new Snuggly Sea Horses are the first of my softies to be stuffed with Innergreen toy fill.  It’s quite exciting, Innergreen is lovely and soft and made from corn fibre, so much nicer for you and nicer for our planet.  I’ll be using Innergreen from now instead of polyester stuffing.

Luna has her own Nancy and loves her, she is also made from a smallish remnant of fabric.. love those green eyes!  these new Sea Horses are also sporting my new fabric tags, all very exciting!

This is the last one, Edward, he’s made from some smart glossy cherry coloured fabric.  I’m glad it worked out well for this guy, some of these firmer fabrics just don’t work so well, but Edward looks great!

Stella and Melanie

Finally I have some photos of my two new sea horses, I will list them on Felt.co.nz this week, they’re so pretty.  These ones are made from vintage sheets, I wash them in hot water and line dry them in the sun, only using the best parts, no marks and stains!  These girls are so soft and snuggly.

sea horses all snuggled up

My lovely sea horses are all coming along just well, swimmingly…  I’m enjoying using up some fabric pieces I’ve had stashed for years on one of my newest designs.  I decided to make some giant sea horses after I had a dream about huge sea horses, over one meter tall, they swam through the air, and were amazing, so real and just huge!

Here are the ones I have made out of a beautiful cot sheet mum gave me, they are sooo soft and snuggly, I have enough to make about three or four.  I have also used the material to make some scallop shell softies too.

I have been experimenting with some of the embroidery stitches on my machine..
