New shoulder bags

Sunday, July 22nd, 2012

New projects have been on the go this year, including some satchel style shoulder bags, I have a good we stash of curtain fabrics and some other colourful pieces…

More embroidery, accompanied as always by Austin.

Austin and I have been working hard on a new design for shoulder bags, I have some lovely fabrics, older vintage pieces, some smallish curtain or upholstery samples.

Some embroidery detail…

The fabric I’m using to line this shoulder bag reminds me of vintage handbag lining, it seemed just perfect.   These bags have a small pocket.

No more plastic! Mermaid’s Purse cotton snack bags

Monday, March 19th, 2012

Phew!  Just in time for Kraftbomb this coming weekend…  Lovely new cotton snack bags, I’ve been avoiding plastic for a while, and love using soft fabric ouches and small bags for mine and my kids on the go snacks.

I use mine for bread rolls, nuts, apples, these are fabric so good for dry goods, and thy wash well!  I have chosen and carefully laundered vintage cottons, and whipped them up into these handy (and so pretty!) snack bags.

These are my ones, come and see me this weekend to get your own!

cool sewing kits!

Monday, November 28th, 2011

You’ve seen my festive little Hanging Strawberry Sewing Kits already?  The kits come complete with all you need, including soft corn fiber stuffing, but did you know I make kits without stuffing, to save you on postage?  These are great little gifts, and post well, I will be listing them on Felt and Etsy over the next couple of days…

Of course, you can still buy the cool noodle box kits too!  That’s them up there..

Can you imagine some of these hanging around your place?  They look so pretty…

I will have these little treats available at the next couple of markets, the Gladstone School Christmas Market, Thursday 1st December, from 5 pm – 9 pm, address: 8 Seaview Terrace, Mt Albert.

And at the Auckland Art and Craft Fair, Saturday 10th December, 11 am – 3 pm, Aotea Centre, THE EDGE, Auckland Central.

Here’s my artists interview!  Here!

Here is my table at i.craft.kingsland… oh and they gave us delicious coffees, a freindly market AND fresh free coffee.  I know, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Baskets of snuggles.

Purses,

And more purses…

Cupcake pincushion sewing kits…

See those strawberries?  That’s what you can do with one of my wee kits!

Strawberry sewing kits!

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

I love to get people sewing, it’s easier and more fun than some may think..  You can buy one of these babies from my Felt.co.nz shop.

It’s good to start with something fun and well, these will be quite festive too.  I’m putting together these sewing kits, you can make a set of three or five strawberries, and the good thing for beginner sewers is that makes good practice!

Like my other kits, all you need is a pair of scissors, the kit comes with the felt, stuffing, template, thread, needle and a couple of pins.  They require no tricky fancy stitches, just a little time.

I’ve used mine as a string of strawberries to decorate the house, and Luna has a whole pile to play with too…

So look out for me at i.craft.kingsland if you’re in the hood this weekend, or come to The Michael Park School Fair to see me… or any of my other markets (see over there to the top right..) or you can just email me if you’re interested.

Mermaid’s Purse at the Michael Park School Fair!

Friday, October 21st, 2011

This year you can find me and my Mermaid’s Purse a few other markets, I’m doing some school markets and a couple of other new ones to mix things up a bit, maybe get closer to where you are..  Take a look over at the sidebar on your right, see?

I’m really excited about going along to the Michael Park School Fair, and it’s only two weeks away!

I’m bring my beautiful new purses, and sewing kits, I’m making up some now, strawberry decorations, easy to sew in felt and felt carrots and – if I can swing some more late nights, maybe a couple more kits.  I like the idea of inspiring kids to get stictching, so these are perfect for a beginner and can be used to make your house all festive…

cool new zipper purses

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

It’s hard to find groovy tartan purses…  until now!  Look what I’ve been busy making for you.  These are really fun, and would make a cool gift, keep planning for xmas, it’s not far off!  I make coin purses as well as sunglass purses, so quite tall they are perfect for your glasses or pencils and pens.

I have had this single small piece of fabric for ages and I finally have cut it up to make some cool purses.  I really love it, so soft and I love the space theme print (of course).

And the vintage rose print shows up again, remember you can find these up for grabs on Felt.co.nz

These I love too, I already have one of my own in my handbag.

see you at Kraftbomb on Sunday!

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

See you guys at Kraftbomb on Sunday…I’ll be there with even more new purses.

These are so pretty and I have used all the fabric, enough for two cuffs and three purses…

And these denim and daisy ones, all summery and embroidered.

Just a few more purses…

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Take a look at this fabric!  One was an old cushion cover and the other was a square of curtain fabric I picked up ages ago.

These babies are lined with gingham.

Nice finishing huh, holds the zips in well, and is all neat and tidy, just how I like them!

These are a couple of glasses cases, or tall pencil cases I suppose.  I have BIG  sunglasses and they fit well, with room to spare.

Nicely lined too of course…

Good colours in those retro fabrics, just love them.

This fabric is weird, I just hope to have enough for a skirt…

because the more I see it the more it gets to me!

more vintage fabric cuffs

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

This one is mine!  When starting a new project I always have a few to giveaway to friends and of course something for myself.

I rally enjoyed working these out, a raided my fabric stash, which includes some beautiful vintage and retro fabrics, especially some sweet soft gingham.

Nice huh?

This gingham was from my nana’s stash, she made clothes for some ragdolls I still have out of it.

These are extra special, I have used some vintage duotone embroidery thread, also from a family stash…  Do you remember this post about raiding some of my tins?  There is only a limited range using this good stuff, can’t bear to use it all up…

This is my vintage rose fabric, soft and SO lovely.  Perfect for spring, and more embroidery.

I’ll be at Kraftbomb at the end of the month, come and grab yourself one there!
