Palestinian art exhibition stirs controversy in the US

26 April 2005

From Aljazeera.net a report on an exhibition that has struggled to find funding. Made in Palestine is an exhibition chronicling the modern history of Palestinians since 1948. This was first shown in the United States in 2003, and as it nears it’s debut in New York, has come up against the ignorance of right wing politicians who denounce the works as glorifying violence. The exhibit has been labelled as critical of Israel, and is apparently unacceptable. Freedom of speech is supposedly intended to allow more than one side of a debate, except it seems when it comes to the Israel/Palestine conflict.
